Top 5 content on Netflix you should stream right now!

With the increase in popularity of OTT streaming platforms during the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of underrated content has flourished across various platforms. Some of it you must have seen already but a lot of it is still unexplored territory. Here are five movies & Tv shows on Netflix that you should be watching right now!

I. Joker (2020)

Many hardcore fans thought that Joaquin Pheonix could never achieve the legacy left by the late legend Heath Ledger and after the failure of Jared Leto, fans were even more skeptical. But Joaquin silenced all his doubters by delivering a masterful performance. It is not just one part of the movie that has to be appreciated though. The direction and screenplay are so powerful and concise that it captures the essence of the Joker but gives him more personality. The movie was even loved by my parents and if that is not enough for you to watch, maybe the fact that it is the first R-rated movie to gross 1 billion dollars of sales may be a better persuading option.

II. Two and a half men (2003-15)

We rarely talk about sitcoms on this page but this one needs to be talked about. It is hilarious, engaging to the core & extremely raunchy. The characters are very well written, the comedic timing is on point, and the writing itself is hysterical and factors like this show the top 10 sitcoms of the all-time list. There are other great sitcoms as well but this one is the least talked about. of course, Charlie Sheen is missed after season 8 but Ashton Kutcher grabs the wheel and steers the show in a direction that helps it keep its original luster.

III. Sherlock (2010-17)

One of the first Sherlock content to break out and capture audiences other than the traditional sherlock readers. Sherlock is one of the vaguest and enigmatic characters of all time. His intelligence is unmatched and his personality is hard to read or handle. Obviously, it is quite difficult to understand such a character to its core and does justice on the bigger screen (smaller in this case). This modern adaption of him has done the character more than justice and made him a fan favorite. The show seeks perfection in every frame and with its meticulous and attractive editing and attention to detail, it is the quintessential drama thriller to watch on the weekends. Benedict Cumberbatch was the takeaway of the show. He made it popular and the show made him popular in return. He was so good that people have forgotten the fact that Robert Downey Jr. had also played this character in the past.

IV. John Wick (2014)

Trust me, this is nothing like your average action movie. It has its own universe with a unique currency, unique way of conversating, unique laws, and its own Jesus (Keanu Reeves). Apart from Keanu's masterclass performance, the music and the tone, and the cinematography create a blend of dark, gothic aesthetics on the screen which is visually pleasing. Apart from these alluring set pieces, the action sequences are the major takeaway. Action directors are never ever appreciated for a movie but for this special case, they should be. The action happens with such finesse and sync, that one cannot get their eyes off during a combat scene.

V. Spider-Man Homecoming

Marvel fans have already watched this and it is not the first one in chronological order but it is surely a fun movie to watch and since it is the origin movie, it will not require any prior Marvel knowledge. Very light in its substance, it is surprisingly a very nuanced edition as the story progresses towards Avenger's Endgame. Tom Holland is a goofy yet pleasurable face to watch and so is Zendaya. For the first time, MJ is an African-American woman (hats off Marvel) and for the first time a spiderman movie has fallen on to the comedy genre more than the action. Marvel knew what needed to be changed and they have acted upon it wonderfully to produce this gem of a movie.
