When you know Roger Deakins is your cinematographer you expect a lot of light contrast shots, pitch dark revealing of characters. This one of those films with exotic shots and very resonating themes.This period western hits the level of The Good, Bad, and The ugly but with a darker plot. This Andrei Tarkovsky film is about the post-apocalyptic world with no past knowledge, no character past so it definitely talks time for a general human to get the storyline. But the visuals of the films about the fantasized place call the 'zone' and the 'Room' was so calm and euphoric at the same time that it takes you into the flow of the film.
