Film Review: Boogie Nights

Back then it in the 80s sex was safe, pleasure was a business and business was booming! This Paul Thomas Anderson flick was about a young boy's journey to fame set in the shadows and not in the spotlight of the movie industry.

1.Story & Screenplay

This classic Hollywood Hollywood story about greed, rise, envy, talent, sex, and money. In 1977 when porn movie showcasing in the theatre was just a casual thing, the directors just dreamed of making one so good that the audience member would stay even after they achieved what they came for. Paul Thomas Anderson stayed true and raw around the concept of porn and he carried the story through a relatable written character named Eddie Adams played by Mark Walberg. He dishwashers until to gets noticed by a porn photographer Jack Horner who says, "that behind those jeans is something wonderful just waiting to get out ." The line sounds a lot like porn but it's not! The film was about to make a point that the porn industry is not a past time and leisure but a legitimate business. Its shows every day behind the scene tantrums on a porn movie set.

2.DIRECTION AND MUSIC

Paul Thomas Anderson generally has a storyline that sounds like someone's absurd dream which one cant remember once woken up. Here Anderson Handled Nudity wisely. He did a great job in terms of having the right cast in the film; which was a pretty behemothic one here. The film has its own pulp fiction balance of comedy and violence. His direction style and the way he takes the story forward make everyone believe that they too have similar visions like that in Hollywood. It is not a film that makes you dig deep but still helps you connect to the intention of the story. PTA is known for impending authentic details which is just icing on the cake. Anderson has mastered the art of camera movement and it has a lot of Goodfellas, raging bull and cap fear style shots and references in terms of scenes, shots, and follow-through.

3. CAST

As mentioned above the film has a huge cast but flawless in terms of performance. Hats off to the ladies of the film Julianne Moore and Heather Graham who had to deal with boldness who only a few would take the risk to do. Philip Hoffman was just perfect and so was John C Reily. But it was Mark Wahlberg who took the film ahead on his shoulders. His character transition to his sexual scenes everything seemed perfect. Honestly could be considered his best performance to date.

Main Stream movies use sex to turn people on, as an element of pleasure. Boogie Nights abandon the perception that the characters out there are enjoying sex but it's a sheer product being made. Watch Boogie nights for its bold take on an interesting topic.
